Dropshipping Launchpad Review (Update): Is Shopify Dropshipping A Simple Way To Make Money?

Dropshipping Launchpad is a course created by Tan Choudhury, a widely respected ecommerce and Shopify store expert. He teaches beginners how to have their own successful store and dropshipping business selling winning products with little ad spend.

Now before we get into the details about Tan’s course, I’d like to talk about why you, as an entrepreneur, would want your own dropshipping business.

Well, that’s what we’re going to talk about in this Dropshipping Launchpad review.

My #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024

First let’s talk about what dropshipping is and how it works…

If you’ve ever thought about selling products online, a few questions have probably come to mind:

  1. What kind of products should I sell?
  2. Do I create my own products or find a supplier?
  3. Where do I keep all my product inventory?

Well, dropshipping is a way of selling products online that does a good job at tackling these 3 questions.

Namely, you don’t have to worry about coming up with a product to sell, because there are a ton of manufacturers at your disposal.  Also, you can use product research tools like Google Trends and Trend Hunter for product ideas that are really hot right now.

As for keeping inventory, that’s the beauty of dropshipping… you don’t have to, your dropshipper will take care of all that for you.

When someone orders a product that you have listed on your Shopify store, rather than going through all the hassle of the shipping and handling from inventory you have stacked up in your garage, you place an order with your supplier for what your customer wants, provide them with your customers shipping address, and they send it directly to them.

You simply pay the supplier for the product and shipping from the money that your customer paid you, and you pocket the rest.

Here’s a quick rundown of what you would need to get started:

  • Pick a product: This will take a bit of finesse, you want to pick a product that a lot of people would want to buy, but not a lot of other people are selling. This way your Shopify store will seem unique.
  • Find suppliers: You want a supplier that has good, high quality products and has a reliable track record for getting products to dropshipping customers on time and undamaged.
  • Creating your online store: This will probably be the easiest part since Shopify is the go to website designer for dropshipping with plenty of engaging templates to choose from. All you need is your own domain name and they can set you up with an email and ssl certificate for your website.
  • Advertising you store: The next step is to get traffic to your store and the way this is typically done is through word-of-mouth, social media accounts like on Instagram and Twitter, or paid ads like Google and Facebook.
  • Handling Orders: As I mentioned earlier, you send your orders to your supplier and they ship your products to your customers.

Who Is Tan Choudhury?

Tan is a native of Tucson, Arizona and a 7-figure Shopify dropshipper.

One of his recent claims to fame is that he developed Konvertify which is a software designed to help Shopify stores get better conversion rates, which comes in handy since the average abandonment rate for a Shopify order is 68%. This basically means that 2 out of 3 shoppers will find products in your store that they like, but change their mind at the last minute

Tan also has a Youtube channel with 271k followers where he talks about his background as a child from a broken home and high school dropout that was within an inch of failing at life.

Growing up, Tan had a knack for glass artwork and turned that knack into a $6 million windfall after learning about the dropshipping business model.

If Dropshipping Launchpad Is Free, How Does Tan Make Money?

Well, aside from the money that Tan makes from his Shopify stores, Tan also makes money from Shopify by getting his students to sign up with Shopify through his affiliate link.

Can You Really Make Money By Dropshipping On Shopify?

It’s certainly possible to make money by dropshipping on Shopify, clearly a lot of people are otherwise Shopify wouldn’t still be in business. The better question is can YOU make money with dropshipping?

Trust me, I’ve done dropshipping before and it’s not as easy as some of the gurus want you to think it is.

In fact, according to some stats, about 90% of dropshippers fail within their first 30 days

Why Do So Many Dropshippers Fail?

Now, I’m not saying it’s impossible to have a successful dropshipping business, but I also don’t want you going into it with your eyes wide shut. So, here’s a list of 5 reasons why most will fail so you’ll know what to expect…

  1. Low Profit Margins: Since most of the money you make goes to the supplier, you’re looking at about an industry standard of 20% profit margins with as little as 2% conversion rates. Store owners need a lot of top selling products and in most cases are just able to stay afloat.
  2. Competition: The competition for dropshipping is crazy, and in the vast majority of cases, you won’t have an exclusive deal with your suppliers, which means you won’t be the only one selling the products you chose. And the majority of dropshippers use the same templates so all your dropshipping stores look alike.
  3. Supply Chain Issues: You have no control over when your product will get to your customer or the condition of the order if it does arrive. So if your customer wants a refund, you could be left holding the bag.
  4. Choosing The Wrong Niche: Unless you’re a marketing genius, choosing the right niche will take some trial and error in the beginning, which means you’ll need a decent amount of money for testing.
  5. Picking The Wrong Product: Even if all the stars are aligned, the products on your store may not jive with your visitors with something as simple a your product’s price, so you might end up back at square one again.

Are There Better Ways To Make Money Online In 2024?

Personally, I don’t have anything against the dropshipping business model, it’s really no different than many other types of businesses with all the pitfalls that come with it.

The big question you should ask yourself should be is there and online business model that has better upside potential without all the downside risk?

I believe there is, and it’s called Digital Leasing, and it’s nothing like Dropshipping.

In fact, I’ve been doing Digital Leasing for the last several years and making money hand over fist and it’s virtually 100% passive income.

Now, I don’t want to bore you with all the details, but if you’d like to learn more about why I believe Digital Leasing is the #1 business model for beginners, just click the button below.
